The rest of my letter was cut off:

The next step is the issuance of a reuse permit and this project can come to fruition before the end of the year.

If you support the reuse of the dry docks please make it a point to attend the public hearing along with those you know, to voice your support, on September 21st at 7PM, at Vallejo City Hall, Council Chamber, 555 Santa Clara Street.

I am interested in learning more about your organization and would be honored to attend your reunion.
Please inform me of the date once it is determined.

My name is Sam Kurshan.

I am the only candidate presently running for Vallejo City Council who has consistently and openly advocated for the marine industrial reuse of Mare Island as the primary means of generating jobs and revenue for Vallejo. Specifically the reopening of the dry docks. I have been advocating for this to occur long before I ever decided to run for office.

I am happy to be able to say that I have met with the owner of the company attempting to do so several times to offer my support in any way possible.

On September 21st the Vallejo Planning Division will be holding a public hearing to approve the Mitigated Negative Declaration, a document which defines and mandates the adherance to specific environmental standards applicable to air, water and noise pollution levels that may not be exceeded during dry dock operations. The City of Vallejo has already accepted the MNG contents.

The next step is the issuance of a reuse permit and this project can come to fr

Started working at Minsy Oct. 1973 as a Shop 71/38 Apprentice. Worked as a 38 Mechanic and got ready to start as a Code 133 Inspector in 1993, but that's when we started Base Closure. So after 1995 I got picked up at Navy Public Works Center - San Diego which is now Called NAVFAC - SW ! I now worked at MCAS Miramar as Runway Electrician/Industrial Equipment Mechanic/Plumber and any Misc. Job I can do ! Jack of All Trades ! I have 6.5 more years to do to get my 42 Years ! I wish I could've finish my Career here at Minsy ! I had the best opportunity there to get promoted !

If you haven't been to Mare Island since it closed it's worth taking another look.

Started my Federal Career at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in July 1966 after graduating from University of Hawaii in Mechanical Engineering. Moved to Mare Island OE Group in July 1973 when Hunter's Point was closed. Retired in Sept 1999, staying after closure as a temporary Environmental Engineer. Enjoyed the challenges that we had in Ocean Engineering!
